Photography: The end of the world by gadl
I wouldn’t normally choose to write about this, but I met an interesting person last Sunday. This person was just like any other half sane stranger you might meet in the greater Los Angeles area. Except he had a greater knowledge than most of Bible passages, specifically prophecies and symbolism for the end of the world. He told me that the world would end on August 2, 2008 and within 6 days from then, not a soul would be alive on the planet. If that wasn’t an odd enough claim, the thing that really made him stick out was that he said he was the “Son of Man” and that God would soon come and inhabit his body and begin to rule the world (or something like that) from him. Basically, that he was or would soon be God.
I’ve read that it is not uncommon for someone with mental problems to believe they are God, but this is the first time someone has tried to tell me that (and he did seem to sincerely believe everything he was telling me). They say it has to do with the ego. It goes something like “each individual is the biggest thing in their own world.” So since we are all the biggest thing in our own little world, when some things backfire in the mental area, one may conclude he (or she) is God somehow in someway. It sounds like a reasonable theory to me.
As far as the end of the world is concerned, I believe it’s near, but as close as August 2, 2008? Well, actually it is possible that it could be sooner than that. Jesus said…

And with things like the Burma massacre and worse going on in the world today, it sure seems like the end of the world. If I was in Burma about to be massacred, I know I would be feeling like it was the end of the world.

Weird, I know a guy who claims he is one of the two phrophets described in Revalations and stated that the begining of the 7 years of Tribulation would begin no later than summer of 2008.
Aside from this, I am certian that all this will happen between 2008 and 2012 no matter what.

Hi John,
What makes you certain it will happen between 2008 and 2012? I’m must admit, I’m skeptical of any claims about it because of the Bible verse I quoted in the article. It seems to say no man knows when it will happen.

Haha, yes thank you grammer nazi, I missed that. When I first started blogging I would spend much time looking over, correcting and rewording a post before publishing. But after a while in a effort to get more posts out the door and take alot of the work out of posting I thought to just let things go a bit with all that.
I guess it hasn’t worked much though because I haven’t been posting frequently.

Hi, my name is Stephen and I saw your article of claiming the world ends on Saterday 2 August 2008 and instead of having a feeling of doubt, I had it as hope. I suffer from depression and for months now wanted to commit suicide but had a feeling of hope that it would be cured by heaven or something. I am 15 years old and was guided by the spirit of ‘Hope’ and came across your web page and couldnt agree more. Besides if the bible says noeone will know the return of Jesus, then he will never come since people make predictions almost every singel day meaning someone will have to be right. And that someone I believe is you whoever you are Mr.
Noeone believes me when I say the end is near but feels it is their lost. Atleast those who are aware can prepare. I want to ask you if you know the spirit called Dr. Aka? He’s not a person but apeared in my dreams or halfway when I go to bed. He told me that after the end of the world I would enter a world that triumphs over my depression and eventualy after that go to Heaven/Hell with the other souls you say will perish in 6 days or whatever. The point is al I am saying is I hope what you told here is the truth and cant wait till Saturday the 08th. Ending my comment is I would like to know if you know of the name Dr. Aka (maybe the Holy Spirit)?

Hi Stephen,
I’m sorry to hear of the depression bothering you. Please don’t ever commit suicide though, it’s not the answer to your problem. My mom told me “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem”.
I personally don’t believe the world will end on 08/02/08 but we will find out soon.
I’ve never heard of “Dr. Aka” but, I believe God is the answer to all of our troubles and he is the Holy Spirit (John 4:24)
Also, He came in human form to this world as Jesus Christ 2000 years ago to redeem fallen mankind (but this redemption takes place for each of us individually). You made the prediction, so deal with it. The world ends in a matter of hours. I dont know how late it is in your country but I live in South Africa where it is now Friday night at the moment. But dont worry, I dont think we’l suffer during the end. Maybe we’l just be tensed but one thing is for shure. There is no doubt in my mind that tommorow is the end!!!
No person or angel knows when or how but it will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Stephen I didn’t make the prediction. I met someone that claimed it would happen on this day. As I mentioned before I don’t think it will happen tomorrow. But I don’t know, and yes the Lord said no man knows so I could be wrong. Either way, I sincerely hope tomorrow is not the end.

I saw strange moving stars left & right in the night sky and think it might be based on a cosmic attack to enshure this existing universe is destroyed. Existance is about to get a new meaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
